It was a pure delight to meet you and spend time together during my recent visit to Buenos Aires. You have created an incredible experience for the traveler and the artist. It brings an outsider into the heart of creative space and studio life for an exchange like no other I have found. The ease and comfort in speaking with Andres and absorbing his work was sensational.

I took a full tour of your website and find it informative and the navigation easy. It is enticing and professional. Well done! I was perusing with an eye to suggestions to strengthen, but honestly could not find any flaws. I have a couple of websites in mind where I can post a blurb about my visit. I'll let you know if they are accepted and posted.

We are very excited to announce that soon we are also able to invite guests to discover an ARTernative side of Miami.

Two weeks ago we went to Miami to meet all the new artists with whom we might work togehter and we were more than impressed by the local artists we found there.

New York September dates: Concierge Tour in NYC

We ran another round of concierge tours in September in New York City. We had guests joined by the concierges from some of New York City’s finest hotels, including The Regency Hotel
Wellington Hotel, New York Marriott Downtown, The Phillips Club, Soho House, Renaissance New York Hotel, New York Palace, Jumeirah Essex House, Affinia Manhattan, Discover NY with Kitt Garrett, Waldorf=Astoria, Carlton on Madison Avenue and the Library Hotel.
A special thanks to our artists for participating in this great event to help New York's concierges experience the tour firsthand.
In late September we will be holding our Spring Concierge Tours in Buenos Aires. Please e-mail us if you are interested in joining us.

Artists Exchange Program: Studio Swap

We are working on the first round of Studio Swaps between our Buenos Aires and New York artists with the idea that they switch living and working spaces for a short period of time. If you are interested in participating, send us photographs of your living and work spaces. We are negotiating special deals with American Airlines and Lan Chile to get better airfares for these exchanges and continue to bridge the gap between these two great cities.

Artists' Atelier Tour Director meets with New York team

In August, our director and founder Natalia Margiotta travelled to New York City to meet with the New york team, scout for new artists, make new alliances and run the August Summer Concierge Tour.
Our trip to New York City in August was very energizing. We had the chance to meet with lots of organizations and great people—like John and Jane from BWAC in their fabulous space in Brooklyn who introduced us to work from the enormous number of artists they have and whose pieces have very accessible prices. It is a project that I am very excited about recommending to our clients and friends. You can’t miss out on the chance to go to BWAC. We have initiated a new relationship to represent some of their artists as well as present our own South American artists represented by Galeria 5006 & Artists Atelier Tour in their 500 square meter riverfront space with a view of the Statue of Liberty.
It was also John who took us to see some of his own work and introduce us to fellow Brooklyn artists and friends in their home and workspaces just a couple of blocks from BWAC. We loved their work but above all we found them to be beautiful human beings . . . what we look for the most. And all this in Brooklyn.
DUMBO Arts Center was another place we had the opportunity to meet with someone on the local scene. The center’s director met with us in the neighborhood coffee shop to talk about presenting a curator’s project for the work from some of our artists.
Another artist we met—back in Manhattan—was Gary Tenenbaum. We were able to meet him on the tour and we visited him again in September on the studio vists. We are thrilled to be working with Gary!
We missed artist Gerald Forster on this visit to New York City but thanks to his beautiful terrace garden—our photograph below doesn’t do it justice—my stay was wonderful. We also had a chance to visit Stephen Talasnik, who took some time to let us visit him in his workspace where he was preparing for two big shows.
We met Alan from the Elizabeth Street Gallery with some of the most amazing enormous antiques ever seen as well as a palace with a baroque garden, a true oasis in Soho.
We visited the Opera Gallery’s Soho space and met in the private viewing room—where you can see some incredible Duchamp pieces as well as other pieces from other artists of the last century. As part of an alliance between Galeria 5006 and Opera, we will begin to represent the work of artists Ron English & Colin Christian.

On our August trip to New York we found some places to grab someting to eat or have a drink. Let s know what you think:
At Mott and Elizabeth Street, we discovered great breakfast fare at the coffee shop Gitans. And in the evenings we went to Public—210 Elizabeth Street—a restaurant with a bar, spectacular drinks, delicious food, a great atmosphere and very cool people.
Pastis is a classic not to be missed in the meat packing district and and in front of Pastis was a great place with djs playing called El Cielo.
On a separate note, the club The Box is worth the visit . . . if they let you in because they are a bit pesados—or racist—but women get in.
We, like most of Manhattan we understand, discovered again and again Whole foods. It is a supermarket experience not to be missed in New York City with a new store on Bowery and Hudson with four floors of food to renovate your organism, there is also ready prepared food for take out or to eat in their food court area. They are open from 8 to 11.
In Brooklyn it was hands down Choice: the ultimate sandwich shop.

Christies’ Latin American Photography Benefit Auction at MALBA museum a success

Many of Galeria de arte 5006’s photographers—Fabiana Barreda, Dino Bruzzone, Facundo de Zuviria, Adriana Lestido, Marcos Lopez, Esteban Pastorino, Diego Ranea, Alessandra Sanguinetti, Catalina Swinburn & Teresa Aninat, Alejo Schatzky, Carlos Trilnick, Marcos Zimmermann—participated in the first Latin American Photography auction of 112 photographs in benefit of the Argentine association for multiple sclerosis (EMA).
All of the gallery’s photographers’ pieces were sold the evening of the live auction held in the Malba Museum auditorium.
“IN MEMORIAM 12.05.04 – 05.06.04” (120 x 152 cm), a photograph from Teresa Aninat and Catalina Swinburn’s performance piece “Memoria Velada” was auctioned for US$4,400, a piece that our gallery sells for US$2500.
The photographs that were not bid on at the auction will be available online at Mercado Libre www.mercadolibre.com.ar/subastaema. Photographers from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Guatemala, Panamá, Uruguay, Perú, Puerto Rico, Venezuela participated.

Andres Waissman at Centro Cultural Borges

Andres Waissman’s show “Una filosa inserción al abismo de la comunidad: Virutas” (A sharp cut into the abysm of the community: Steel Wool) at the Centro Cultural Borges in Recoleta was a great success.
